When sampling fabrics for my scarf collection I was looking for several things. Firstly, quality and feel of course! They have to be luxuriously soft and lush, but also wearable and easy to care for.
Secondly, it was important to me that the textiles I chose were as eco-friendly as possible, so that my vision of creating my artwork into eco-luxury scarves would not mean a compromise on quality or craftsmanship, or having them made in England by a specialist luxury silk scarf manufacturer.
So after considering many contenders, the textile I chose was a stunning blend of pure silk and TENCEL™ crepe. It struck the perfect balance of silky, natural feeling material, that had a luxurious yet wearable feel.
So why a Tencel silk blend? Because Tencel is one of the most eco-friendly, low impact fibres available on the market today, and when blended with pure silk it gives a luxurious yet natural feel that really works with scarves.
And in case you are wondering, TENCEL™ is a man-made, natural fibre which is made using certified environmentally responsible processes which transforms sustainably sourced natural raw material wood into cellulose fibers with high resource efficiency and low environmental impact.
The natural and biodegradable fibers are manufactured with an environmentally responsible, low enclosed loop manufacturing process which recycles the water and solvents used so that nothing is released into the environment during the manufacturing process.
This innovative and environmentally conscious processing sets TENCEL™ apart from other man made fibres, and for this reason we chose the beautiful silk blend for our unique botanical scarf collection!
